and traditional, crewel embroideries often incorporate more eastern patterns
such as the Indian Tree of Life motif. Shalimar beautifully marries these
elements creating a design that is both exotic and elegant. Plumage-style
flowers with stitching detail and decorative leaves are all beautifully
drawn and hand printed on natural grounds. The colouring is typical of
flowering arabesques of this time with mellow reds, pinks, and greens.
