Bennison Fabrics is an English company specialising in hand-printed textiles inspired by 18th and 19th century English and French textiles. The fabrics were originally discovered and reproduced by the late Geoffrey Bennison, a renowned antique dealer and decorator known for his discerning eye and distinctive style.
The company was founded in 1985 by Gilly and Geoff Newberry after Geoffrey Bennison’s untimely passing. Gilly had met Geoffrey five years prior embarking on a successful creative partnership and friendship; and it was this fortuitous encounter that would lead to the founding of what is now known as Bennison Fabrics.
The collection has grown to include more contemporary patterns, including specially commissioned designs. Yet the guiding principle remains the same: to select prints with the harmonious tone and scale that Geoffrey would have liked.
All designs are printed in small batches in England on linens and silks woven and dyed exclusively for the company. Subtle variations between dye lots ensure that every piece is unique and is a testament to the artisanal nature of our process.
Every pattern in the collection can also be printed as wallpaper.
Bennison Fabrics is based in London and New York, with representatives in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, and San Francisco.
